The world is witnessing rapid transformations driven by the accelerated development of artificial intelligence (AI), which has reshaped communication landscapes and compelled Islamic daʿwah (Islamic outreach and preaching) to reconsider its tools and approaches. This study examines how AI technologies can be effectively employed to renew Islamic discourse and strengthen its presence in the digital environment while preserving its religious, ethical, and moral foundations.
The study is guided by a central research question: How can the potential of AI be harnessed to serve Islamic daʿwah without compromising its authentic religious reference framework? It further explores issues of credibility, content ethics, and the limits of technological integration. The paper also investigates the transition from traditional preaching venues to algorithm-driven digital platforms, raising critical questions about the balance between widespread online engagement and scholarly depth, as well as the extent to which AI can complement—without replacing—the educational and spiritual dimensions of daʿwah.
Adopting a critical analytical approach, the study reviews major AI applications in generating religious content, audience analysis, and personalized outreach. These applications are evaluated in light of the objectives of Islamic law (Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah) and established juristic principles, while addressing the challenges posed by AI-generated religious content to ensure the credibility, authenticity, and integrity of Islamic discourse in the digital age.
