Religious Conversion to and from Islam in the United States and the Mandate of Islamic Institutions: An Analytical Study of the 2017 Pew Research Center Report

Abstract

مركز بيو أحد المراكز العلمية المهمة حول العالم والتي تقدم تقارير تتسم بالمصداقية والشفافية، وقد تأسس المركز في عام ألفين وأربع(2004م)، وتقاريره من الدراسات المهمة التي تقوم على الاستطلاع وتحليل البيانات، وهذه التقارير لها أهميتها في الجانب البحثي، وقد صدر تقرير عن المركز في عام 2017م يشير إلى نسبة الداخلين في الإسلام من الأديان الأخرى، والخارجين منه في أمريكا، وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن نسبة الخارجين منه تعادل تقريبا الداخلين مع تحليل لأبرز وأهم الأسباب الفاعلة في عملية الدخول والخروج من الإسلام، والنتيجة التي توصل لها هذا التقرير تلقي بالتبعة على المؤسسات الدعوية في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بعقد لقاءات عملية لكيفية الحد من ظاهرة الخروج من الإسلام، مع ضروة العمل والاتحاد بين المؤسسات، وتقدييم القضايا الدعوية ذات الأهمية وبخاصة العقدية، وتفعيل البرامج الشبابية، ورعاية الأسرة المسلمة وتقديم النصيحة بيسر وسهولة من الدعاة الأكفاء والاستعانة بهم.ولذا تأتي هذه الدراسة كقراءة في هذا التقرير للوقوف على أبرز الأسباب والتعليق عليها، ثم نتبعها ببيان دور المؤسسات الدعوية.وقد استخدمنا في هذه الدراسة المنهج التحليلي والمنهج الاستنباطي.ثم أتبعنا ذلك بأهم النتائج والتوصيات.

The Pew Center is one of the most important scientific centers around the world that provides credible and transparent reports. The center was established in 2004 AD, and its reports are important studies based on surveys and data analysis. These reports are important in the research aspect. A report was issued by the center in 2017 AD indicating the percentage of converts to Islam from other religions and those who left it in America. The study concluded that the percentage of those who left it is almost equal to those who entered it, with an analysis of the most prominent and important reasons effective in the process of entering and leaving Islam. The result reached by this report places the responsibility on the advocacy institutions in the United States of America to hold practical meetings on how to limit the phenomenon of leaving Islam, with the necessity of work and unity between institutions, presenting important advocacy issues, especially doctrinal ones, activating youth programs, caring for the Muslim family, and providing advice easily and simply from competent preachers and seeking their assistance. Therefore, this study comes as a reading of this report to identify the most prominent reasons and comment on them, then we follow it with a statement of the role of Islamic Institutions. In this study, we used the analytical and deductive approaches, followed by the most important findings and recommendations.
