Quranic Readings: Their Origin, Development, and Impact on Preserving the Quranic Text

Abstract

يأتي هذا البحث الصغير المتواضع بعنوان: (القراءات القرآنية: نشأتها وتطورها وأثرها في حفظ النص القرآني). ويعتبر من أهم الأهداف والأسباب التي أدت إلى كتابة هذا البحث: الوقوف على الجهود العلمية لعلماء الأمة في خدمة القراءات وحفظ القرآن، وبيان دور القراءات في حماية النص القرآني من التغيير أو الضياع. تسليط الضوء على علاقة القراءات بعلوم القرآن الأخرى كالتفسير واللغة .وتتجلى أهمية هذا البحث فيما يتعلق ببيان مفهوم القراءات القرآنية ونشأتها في مراحلها المختلفة بإيجاز لعلنا نقف على الآراء التي تتسم بالقوة والوضوح في هذه المسألة المهمة والتي تتعلق بكتاب الله عزوجل، والذي يعد المصدر الأول من مصادر التشريع، كذلك من المسائل ذات الأهمية والتي نعنى بها من خلال هذا البحث تتبع المراحل التاريخية لتطور القراءات القرآنية عبر العصور. وإبراز أثرها في حفظ النص القرآني وصيانته من التحريف والتبديل والتغير.والمنهج المتبع لتحقيق هذا الهدف هو المنهج الاستقرائي والتحليلي، واقتضت طبيعة مادة هذا الموضوع على أن يقسم إلى مقدمة، وثلاث مباحث، وتليها خاتمة، ومصادر ومراجع.   This study, entitled “Qurʾanic Readings: Their Emergence, Development, and Impact on the Preservation of the Qurʾanic Text,” aims to examine a number of fundamental issues related to the science of Qurʾanic readings. Among the primary objectives motivating this research is the investigation of the scholarly efforts exerted by Muslim scholars in the service of Qurʾanic readings and in the preservation of the Qurʾan, as well as elucidating the role of these readings in safeguarding the Qurʾanic text from alteration, loss, or distortion. In addition, the study seeks to highlight the relationship between Qurʾanic readings and other Qurʾanic sciences, particularly Qurʾanic exegesis (tafsīr) and Arabic linguistics. The significance of this research lies in clarifying the concept of Qurʾanic readings and tracing their emergence through various historical stages in a concise and systematic manner, with the aim of identifying the most robust and well-substantiated scholarly views concerning this critical issue related to the Book of Allah, Exalted be He, which constitutes the primary source of Islamic legislation. Furthermore, the study addresses another important dimension by tracing the historical phases of the development of Qurʾanic readings across different periods and demonstrating their impact on preserving the integrity of the Qurʾanic text and protecting it from distortion, alteration, and change. To achieve these objectives, the study adopts an inductive and analytical methodology. In accordance with the nature of the subject matter, the research is structured into an introduction, three main sections, followed by a conclusion, and a list of sources and references.
